Challenge / Goal
The city of Dietikon will experience another major growth spurt by 2030. In Niderfeld, a new quarter is to be built on around 40 hectares of residential reserves, which will one day provide living space for around 3,000 people and 4,000 jobs. This growth poses major challenges for the city: The quality of life of the population is to be maintained and, if possible, improved despite increasing traffic and settlement density. At the same time, the digital transformation must be driven forward and resource consumption reduced through the use of new technologies. The Smart City Dietikon strategy sets the target direction.
Solution
- Measures for CO2-free transport such as e-charging stations for cars and bicycles
- parking management
- public WLAN
- Air monitoring station for the collection of various environmental data such as temperature, humidity, but also air pollutants such as fine dust or ozone.
- The station is supplemented by a network of other environmental sensors distributed throughout the city that measure various environmental data, including ground temperature, to warn of any black ice.
