Challenge
Plug & Sense and Smart Regio Basel aims at the targeted promotion of digital networking in the Basel region in order to sustainably increase the attractiveness of the living and economic area for the population and the resident companies in the context of digitalization and to promote the local use of value and value creation. To this end, the activities of private, public and state actors in the areas of infrastructure and data governance are coordinated, collaborative lighthouse projects are initiated, the implementation of pilot projects is supported, offers to raise awareness and empower the population for the digital transformation are created and an open thematic network is formed.

The pilot project "Smart Climate - Plug & Sense" emerged from a Smart Regio Basel roundtable, and was installed during 2020 as part of the public-private partnership into a pioneering network with around 160 sensors in 20 municipalities in Switzerland, Germany and France.
